We're WORKING TOWARDS RECONCILIATION.

The Choirs YYJ acknowledges the atrocities of the residential school system. We honour and  and remember the children who never came home, as well as survivors, their families and communities. We are committed to reconciliation, and meaningfully engaging with local Indigenous communities.

Our rehearsals and performances take place on the traditional and ancestral territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) speaking peoples, also known as the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.

We're still singing.

Things are a little different these days. We’re still gathering (virtually) every week for a few hours of fun music-making – but rehearsal has become so much more. Since Spring 2020, when our choir community had to disperse to stay safe, our connection has brought even more joy, support and meaning. Our love to everyone who is singing and creating with us during the pandemic – and welcome to those who want to join in. If we don’t see you soon, enjoy these new virtual choir compositions and stay safe.

We are a motley group of music-loving people from Victoria and surrounding areas.

Under the direction of Marc Jenkins, we sing indie, pop and folk songs that you probably know (and love) – and a few tunes you probably haven’t heard of, yet.

Our singers come from all walks of life, and have an array of musical background and talents. No auditions are needed to join in, just a love of music and an eagerness to try.

More of a listener? That’s cool too. We’ll see you at a PERFORMANCE AGAIN SOON. IN THE MEANTIME, CHECK OUT OUR PAST GIGS.
