THE GIST OF THINGS
TWO SESSIONS
We have two sessions per year that run over four months. Registration begins in August/September for the Fall Session, and January/February for Spring. Fees are $225 per session. Each session we learn a new repertoire that concludes in a public concert. In the Summer, we reprise our favourite music to perform at select venues and events.
WEEKLY SINGING
During our four-month session, we get together once a week for two-hours of rehearsal. We require a commitment to coming to rehearsals and practicing at home about 30-60 minutes a week – we perform by memorizing the songs!
ORIGINAL MUSIC
Our songs are arranged by director of The Choirs YYJ, Marc Jenkins, or guest arranger Ashley Bontje – and feature the piano flair of our accompanist Erin Gray. On occasion, we sing an awesome original or accompany other artists.
SING WITH (NEW) FRIENDS
The CHOIR meets Tuesdays at Pacific Opera Baumann Centre, 925 Balmoral Road, 7:30-9:30pm weekly.
The CHORUS meets Wednesdays at Oak Bay United Church, 1355 Mitchell Street, 7:30-9:30pm weekly.
By the way there’s not much difference between the two groups – similar songs, similar people!
FOUR-PART HARMONIES
Our singing gives a bold, new sound to the pop, rock, and indie music you’ve likely heard before. When you join, we’ll help you find the section (soprano, bass, tenor, or alto) in which you’re most comfortable singing. You’ll never have to sing alone.

NO (EXTRA-)SPECIAL SKILLS
Sheet music, lyrics, and practice audio are provided for learning. There’s no requirement to read music or have prior experience, you can learn by ear and repetition. And if you do have a musical background, that’s swell – you’ll still find our pieces challenging and fun.
WANT TO JOIN IN?
We don’t require auditions to sing in The Choir or The Chorus. Simply drop us a line to find out which sections have availability.
